Web Screensaver

| Comments

We have just started a new project similar to our music player, Gramola, to show our photos in a web browser, after our disappointment with existing solutions such as Piwigo or Gallery2. We hope that you’ll hear some more about it in the future.

In the meantime, while deciding about features to implement, a slideshow mode obviously came out as part of them. And we though about how cool would it be to be able to have the photo slideshow as an screensaver for your desktop.

Arduino vs Raspberry Pi

Sometimes, when you want to build a project, you need to think which is the best platform for you, weather server, desktop, Raspberry Pi or Arduino. If you have no experience at all, you may think you want to build a weareable device (like our WatchDuino project) using a Raspberry Pi, or a webpage or a smart robot with light and sounds using an Arduino, when in fact these are not the optimal choices. That’s why we would like to point out the main differences between Rasbperry Pi and Arduino, and which makes them the best or the worst depending on the kind of project.

A month has passed since we won the Biicode contest with our Watchduino project. And thanks to Biicode and some other blogs around the world, we have received a lot of support for our project, so we would like to do a brief summary and stats about what happened this last month, and who mentioned us in the web.

Coconauts Now Is Powered by Octopress

You may have noticed that the design of our website has changed slightly recently. This is because we have migrated the software that powers it, from Wordpress to Octopress.

Wordpress is a very stable and easy to use blogging framework, written in PHP, and backed by a MySQL database. It’s so easy to use in fact that is not uncommon to see it being used to power not only blogs, but also simple websites that don require a lot of application logic. It’s got a very friendly administration interface, so that once it’s been set up it’s very easy to use by redactors without any tech knowledge.
